GLP-1s work with your body's natural biology to support meaningful, sustainable weight loss. They mimic a hormone your body already produces—helping regulate appetite, stabilize blood sugar, and create a stronger sense of fullness after meals.
At AltrX, we use GLP-1 therapies, create a smarter path to weight management. These treatments are guided by licensed clinicians and tailored to your individual goals.
While both support weight loss, GLP-1/GIP has a dual mechanism — activating both GLP-1 and GIP receptors — compared to the single GLP-1 pathway. GLP-1/GIP users lost an average of 15–22% of body weight versus 12–15% with GLP-1 alone in clinical trials.
GLP-1/GIP may offer enhanced metabolic benefits due to its dual action, but individual responses vary. Your clinician will help determine which medication aligns best with your health profile, goals, and tolerance.
Activates both GLP-1 and GIP receptors — a dual-hormone approach. GLP-1 helps reduce appetite and slows digestion, while GIP enhances insulin response and may improve fat metabolism. Together, they create synergistic effects on weight loss and metabolic health.
This dual mechanism addresses multiple pathways simultaneously — appetite regulation, blood sugar control, energy expenditure, and fat storage — resulting in more comprehensive metabolic support than single-hormone medications.
Similar to other GLP-1 medications, most users experience significantly reduced appetite and cravings within the first week. Meals become more satisfying with smaller portions, and the constant urge to snack tends to fade naturally.
Initial side effects may include mild nausea, digestive changes, or temporary fatigue — typically resolving within 2–4 weeks. The dual-action mechanism may provide more sustained energy throughout the day. Dosing begins low and increases gradually to optimize comfort and effectiveness.
Administration: Once-weekly subcutaneous injection (abdomen, thigh, or upper arm)
Dosing: Starts at 2.5mg weekly for 4 weeks, increasing by 2.5mg increments every 4 weeks based on response, up to 15mg weekly
Storage: Refrigerate before first use; can be kept at room temperature for up to 21 days after opening
Compounded by: Licensed U.S.-based compounding pharmacies following FDA guidelines

GLP-1 receptor agonists are a class of medications originally developed for type 2 diabetes that have also been FDA approved (in their brand-name forms) for weight management in certain patients. The compounded versions available through the AltRx membership are NOT FDA approved and have not been independently evaluated by the FDA for safety, efficacy, or quality. Your provider will evaluate your medical history, current medications, and contraindications (including a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN2 syndrome) to determine whether treatment is appropriate for you.
You may pause or cancel your membership at any time. If you and your provider decide to discontinue GLP-1 treatment, your provider may recommend a tapering schedule. Weight regain after discontinuation is common and your provider can discuss strategies for long-term weight management.
Your altRx membership includes telehealth consultations with a licensed provider, a personalized care plan, prescription fulfillment if appropriate, and shipping. All pricing is displayed in our pricing section.
